Meet Our K-9 Team E-mail

Deputy Jason Torrey & Benco

 

Jason started out in law enforcement in 1999 as a summer patrol officer for the City of Cadillac.  In June of 1999 he was hired at the Manistee County Sheriff's Office as a road patrol officer and has worked in that capacity to this date.Jason took over as the K-9 handler in May of 2011 and was paired up with his current partner Benco.

 


Benco is a 1 1/2 year old German Shepherd who was brought over from Poland.  He is a dual purpose K-9 who specializes in narcotics detection and tracking.  His abilities include building and area searches, article searches, handler protection and criminal apprehension.  Benco's narcotics certification includes the controlled substances marijuana, cocaine, heroin, ecstacy, and methamphetamines

Community Involvement:

Deputy Torrey and Benco will be serving our community in many ways.  They look forward to being a part of public demonstrations, school and local events, and other community activities.

Deputy Torrey and Benco are working hard to be a valuable asset to Manistee County.

 

Retired:

We would like to thank Conan and his handler Deputy Mike Sekuris for their years of service to Manistee County as our K-9 team.  Conan's started working for Manistee County in 2001 and worked through the spring of 2011.
